The Weather is ALWAYS Perfect

Have you ever seen an imperfect cloud? Of course not. You probably can’t even imagine what an imperfect cloud is supposed to be.

What would an imperfect cloud even look like?

If there are no imperfect clouds, then all clouds must be perfect, right?

Perfect Weather

Let’s take this a little further. Have you ever seen imperfect weather?

Notice that suddenly those perfect clouds somehow have made some imperfect weather in your mind. You are probably thinking of your version of imperfect weather right now.

But that’s the point, it’s your version of imperfect weather. I love thunderstorms. My mother-in-law hated them. My favorite weather was her least favorite weather.

How is it possible the same thunderstorm was both perfect and imperfect? Because it wasn’t. It was my opinion and my mother-in-law’s opinion.

If we take the opinions off, we can see that all weather is perfect, just like the clouds, whether we like the weather or not.

The weather happening outside your window right now is the perfect result of the weather from five minutes ago plus the weather from yesterday. You don’t have to like it. My mother-in-law did not like summer thunderstorms. They were still perfect thunderstorms.

Most of us use the word perfect to mean I like what’s happening. Perfect has nothing to do with whether we like it or not. 2+2 = 4 is always a perfect mathematical equation. Your opinion and my opinion can’t change that one bit.

The same thing is true of the weather.

Hurricane Milton blew through Florida yesterday. It was a perfect hurricane. As hurricanes do, it left a lot of damage. We don’t have to like any of that. That’s just the nature of hurricanes.

The weather is always perfect. The only thing we have to do is check the weather and wear the right clothes.

Perfect Life

Now let’s go really big. How is your life any different from the weather?

The most wonderful thing that happened in your life is the perfect result of the moments that came before it.

The most horrible thing that happened in your life is the perfect result of the moments that came before it.

Every moment of your life is always perfect, just like the weather. You do not have to like what’s happening. All you have to do is wear the appropriate clothing for the weather or take the appropriate action for what’s happening now.

This is a nice idea until you happen to be in a hurricane or is it?

Perfect Flood

Let me give you a real world example that started just two hours ago.

I was watching Beetlejuice from 1988. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and could hear water running through the pipes.

I raced downstairs to find the supply line for the in-home humidifier had burst and water was quickly filling the furnace room.

Obviously, I needed to stop the water immediately. I knew the shut off valve in the house was extremely hard to turn and my best bet was to shut it off at the road.

I grabbed the water key and a flashlight and had the water turned off in less than 10 minutes. Somewhere between five and 10 gallons of water covered the floor.

Within minutes, neighbors were helping move boxes out of the room, using a wet vac to suction the water away and within one hour the water was back on and we were chatting on the driveway.

It would be very easy to assign blame and shame for what happened but, the reality is, the flood was the perfect result of an incorrectly installed valve, a change in city water pressure because they replaced the failing watermain and a little bit of time.

Shutting the water off was the perfect result of me forgetting there was a shut off valve right next to the one that had burst and using the water key out on the city’s shutoff valve.

The cleanup was the perfect result of neighbors walking by noticing that I was zipping around the house with a cane in my hand and offering to help.

This is the perfect result of me sitting down and writing this all out.

When we start to see the life this way, as a series of perfect moments lined up one after the other, life becomes easy to live.

Life becomes a series of perfect weather events.

Dress accordingly.
